If you read Mark's last blog essentially blaming me for creating his latest vice – don't believe a word of it! It can literally take either of us about 3 seconds to latch on to a new sport-shooting related vice and run with it! We are in the midst of acquiring and building new a couple new guns. I have a "work-in-progress" modded Crosman 2240 CO2 pellet pistol (.22 cal) outfitted with an NCStar 2MOA Green Dot Sight and an old BSA red laser in a Phoebus barrel mount. I think that anyone who doesn’t like shooting has never spent a day lying on a tarp in a cow pasture, looking through a spotting scope and binocular and calling shots for a good friend.

Probably hasn’t shot Mr. Pringle (on the potato chip can) in the eye with a pellet gun, either.

I got to do both a couple of weeks ago, and it was just a damn fine day, I’m here to tell you.  It’s hard to admit, but I enjoyed the pellet rifle as much as – maybe even more than – shooting the “real” guns.

The FN FAL is my favorite rifle. There is nothing like a full sized battle rifle that uses full powered cartridges. The intermediate assault style rifles (AR15, AK47) are nice but having 20 round magazines of .308 is like nothing else. The FAL comes from a better time – when right was right, wrong was wrong, firearms were hand made of high quality metals, and the good guys with battle rifles met the bad guys who had AK47s on the battlefield.
